I am home right now so can't show you pictures of the bulletin board projects, but I AM going to share a couple of fun projects that I worked on at home last night.
First of all, a challenge I have always had in my classroom is organization of classroom supplies. I have tried every Really Good Stuff organization box that they have listed in their catalog, but my kiddos still would lose their supplies and we would spend precious minutes looking for a red crayon or there were not enough scissors for everyone. So this year, I am trying something different. I went to the Dollar Tree and purchased 6-cup muffin pans. I also purchased colored cups in red, blue, yellow, and green as well as white cups.
I cut Velcro into small squares and attached to the bottom of the muffin cups and the bottom of each cup. I went to Avery on line and used a template for item #48260. These are the 1" x 2 5/8" labels. I used Avery's Andy font and imported images from Michelle (The 3AM Teacher) and Scrappin Doodles. After printing the labels, I added them to the cups. I use colors for my work tables - red, blue, yellow, and green. As you can see from the pictures, I placed the same color cup in each muffin pan and these pans will be placed on the appropriate tables. (The picture with the supplies in it are not the supplies the kids will bring in, of course. I just used what I had at home.)
For crayons, I labeled each white cup with a different color crayon label. Each child will sort their box of crayons into the correct cup, and voila! organized crayons - hopefully! The BEST part about this project is that the muffin pans stack - Woo hoo - storage problems handled!
I wanted to share another great site for Daily 5 printables that my good friend, Susie, who teaches third grade at our school shared with me. Karen at KinderTastic has listed some really great ideas for launching the Daily 5 as well as some really nice Daily 5 printables that are FREE! Here is the link:
